Description
Meet George E. Madjitey, a physician whose hands have helped shape generations of Houston families.
For more than 50 years, Dr. Madjitey has served as an Obstetrician Gynecologist in Houston, guiding women through routine and high risk pregnancies with expertise, calm, and compassion. A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, he represents the excellence of HBCU trained physicians who have long stood at the frontlines of Black maternal health.
Affiliated with institutions including Texas Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center, Dr. Madjitey is known for managing complex cases such as maternal anemia and coagulation disorders while maintaining a bedside manner that patients describe as reassuring and deeply caring.
His story also carries an international legacy of leadership. Dr. Madjitey is the son of Bartimeus Teye Madjitey, who made history as the second Black Controller of Customs and Excise in Ghana. His uncle, Erasmus Ransford Tawiah Madjitey, was another historic figure who became the first African to command a police force in the British Commonwealth and the first Ghanaian Commissioner of Police.
Dr. George E. Madjitey is Black History because his work represents a lifetime of service, excellence, and generational impact in Houston’s medical community.
This is Black History in motion.
In Houston, Dr. Madjitey’s impact is generational. He has delivered babies for mothers he once delivered decades earlier. Few professions allow you to literally bring life into the world. Fewer still allow you to witness entire family trees grow because of your care.
In a time when Black maternal health disparities remain a national concern, physicians like Dr. Madjitey represent stability, excellence, and trust within the community.
Fifty years of service.
Thousands of lives touched.
Multiple generations delivered.
Dr. George E. Madjitey is Black History because his life’s work has shaped Houston one family at a time.
